The Last Wax Christ Child: Spotlight on a Lost Craft

Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit by discovering a centuries-old tradition: wax Baby Jesuses. Brought from Europe in the early 17th century, this custom has been passed down through generations of Augustinian sisters, adorning nativity scenes across Quebec. Although the last Augustine skilled in their creation stopped producing them in 2021, the Monastère des Augustines Museum invites you to celebrate this cherished Christmas tradition.
