Québec City Dominates the Travel + Leisure List Again This Year as the Best Destination in Canada
Press Release
Quebec, July 12, 2022 - The Québec City region is just as enchanting as ever, having received recognition this morning from the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine naming it the “Best Destination in Canada” for the seventh time.
Penned as readers’ perennial favourite by the magazine’s editors, Québec City has been a member of the World’s Best Awards Hall of Fame since 2016, when the “5 Best Cities in Canada” category was created. With a result of 87.04, its best score ever (0.33 higher than in 2021), Quebec makes many readers visiting this city feel like they are in Europe, with its churches, cobblestoned streets and many languages (including French, of course) being spoken. "Quebec City is the jewel of Canada," declared one reader. "It is tucked away and extremely romantic," said another, who called it one of their "favorite cities on the planet”. Readers also point out that the destination benefits from very popular hotels, such as the Auberge Saint-Antoine, which won first place on the list of the 10 best urban hotels in Canada this year and which took the 85th spot in the 100 Best Hotels in the World category and such as the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, which was ranked 10th on the list of the 10 best urban hotels in Canada.
“Far from taking this distinction for granted, we are delighted to see that we are still in the hearts of readers, mainly American, of Travel + Leisure and that we remain their favorite city across Canada. Readers give us a better score year after year. The rank we are conferred proves that our actions and initiatives, aimed at preserving our undeniable assets and focusing on sustainable tourism, are the right things to do and we are very proud,” said Destination Québec cité’s Managing Director, Robert Mercure.
He adds: “Readers have pointed out that we have the privilege of counting on hotel establishments and tourism businesses that enhance visitors’ experiences. In this regard, I would like to congratulate the Auberge Saint-Antoine that obtained first place in the “10 Best Hotels in Canada” list with a near-perfect score of 96.18, and also the Fairmont Château Frontenac that ranked 10th.”
The survey took place from October 25, 2021 to February 28, 2022. Travel + Leisure magazine is a real benchmark for international travellers and members of the tourism industry.
