Vallée Bras-du-Nord's Neilson Mountain Bike Trails
If you are a mountain biker following the East Coast scene, you have certainly heard about the Neilson trails in Vallée Bras-du-Nord. Or, you may have seen caps, t-shirts and other accessories proudly sporting the word " Neilson ". Wondering what is it with that place?
Well, it’s because these trails have become world famous for their quality, the breathtaking panoramas and the remote and rugged feel that is on par with exploring a national park.
The most seasoned and adventurous riders often embark on a day called " Full Neilson ": to ride the Neilson Est, Nord and Sud trails from the Shannahan welcome centre.
This fairly sturdy route is about 32 km of mountain biking and more than 1100 m of vertical, the equivalent of a small raid, but in an incredible scenery. From the foothills of the Bras-du-Nord valley, these trails will take you through a variety of mountainous and forested landscapes, the highlight being undoubtedly the majestic Cap des Sept Côtes bordering the Neilson River for a few kilometres.
It is in this spirit that the second episode of the series Ride Québec City was designed, hoping that it gives you the desire to go ride your own " Full Neilson ".
