Spring is just around the corner! The sun is shining, the air is warming, and the perfect time to plan that spring getaway is now. Instead of heading south of the border this year, why not plan an affordable adventure closer to home? Here are 5 reasons to visit to Québec City this spring.

The Warmer Weather Is Ideal for Exploring Old Québec

With the days growing warmer, spring is an excellent time to explore the city. The weather is perfect for wandering the quiet streets of Old Québec and finding those hip local haunts before the first busloads of tourists arrive in the summer. It’s a great time to visit less typical destinations, like the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Ursuline Museum, Îlot des Palais and the Morrin Centre.

Mild temperatures also mean patio season! Many of the city’s microbreweries and other establishments have delightful outdoor spaces, and this time of year, more and more are opening every day. One of our favourites is the cozy year-round patio at Bar Le Sacrilège.

Accommodations Are More Affordable and Available

Everyone loves a good deal! In Québec City, demand for accommodations is lower in spring, so the prices are generally better. With a range of options to choose from, it’s easy to find the perfect place without breaking the bank. And remember to check for discounts before booking.

Spring is also a great time to snag a reservation for less traditional accommodations before everything gets booked up for the summer. Yurts, domes, floating cabins—the possibilities are endless.

It’s a Good Time to Take a Break

With most winter sport seasons over and summer ones yet to begin, spring is the perfect time to take a rejuvenating break from keeping up with it all. For those looking to relax, there’s nothing like a Nordic spa getaway. And spring weather is possibly the best for a spa visit—chilly enough to make the hot water feel amazing, but not too cold when moving from pool to pool.

Want to take the self-care a step further? Book a wellness retreat, like those offered at the Monastère des Augustines or the Centre de l’Hêtre.

Two Long Weekends = Two Chances to Stay Longer

One great thing about spring is that it includes two long weekends, making it easier than ever to take a well-deserved break. Between Easter and National Patriots’ Day/Victoria Day, ’tis the season for an extended stay in Québec City. There’s plenty to do—and no better time to do it!

Two New Exhibitions to See Before Anyone Else

Two exciting exhibitions are coming to Québec City this spring. From March 20, Musée de la civilisation is hosting Wrestling: Québec in the Ring. Then on April 25, 2024, the masterpieces of renowned artist Rembrandt will be on display at the MNBAQ. So plan a visit to Québec City and be one of the first to experience these captivating exhibitions—and avoid the crowds they’re sure to attract this summer!
