The island is a boundless source of inspiration for local artists of every stripe who find all kinds of ways to share their creations, while local makers work with an abundance of terroir goods. The village shops and roadside stands are at their liveliest from mid-June to mid-October, while the scenery offers something new with each passing season.

Here are a few suggested stops, but the most important thing is to leave room for spontaneity. See something that sparks your curiosity? Go check it out!
How to Get to Île d'Orléans from Québec City
- By car: From downtown Québec City, you can reach the island entrance, where the tourist information center is situated, in only 15 minutes. A car is the most convenient way to explore the island at your own pace.
- On a guided tour: From Old Québec, Unitours and Québec Bus Tours offer bus tours, while Quatre Natures provides sea kayak tours with shuttle service to the island.
- By public transit: PLUMobile offers a limited bus service Monday through Friday, with a few departures each day. Reservations can be made at 418-827-8484 or 1-866-824-1433.
- By water taxi: With a reservation, Excursions Maritimes Québec offers water taxi service (zodiac-style) between the Old Port and Île d'Orléans. However, there is no regular ferry service directly to the island.
It is worth noting that no public transportation services connect the various sites on the island. Without a car, getting from one place to another can be challenging due to the distances between villages. The island is about 34 km long and 8 km wide (for comparison, Manhattan Island in New York is 22 km long and 3.7 km wide!).
