We are very fortunate in Québec City regarding the wide choice of microbreweries and the excellent beers produced by our local brewers. Here are our suggestions for the 5 best downtown craft breweries that offer a complete and distinctive experience, both for the atmosphere on site and for the quality of the products.

  • 1

    La Souche Limoilou

At La Souche, wood is everywhere and it creates an intimate and warm atmosphere throughout the establishment. There is a wide selection of beers and the sour style is often very well represented and pleasantly well mastered.

There is something for everyone as the team overflows with originality to come up with creative beers. We strongly recommend to have a snack or a tasty dish with your beer.

  • 2

    La Korrigane

La Korrigane will charm you with a warm welcome and an intriguing decor highlighting raw materials of the beer brewing and elements recalling the origin of its name, inspired by an ancient exploration vessel.

You can taste original beers designed with a choice of local ingredients. It is also possible to eat delicious dishes featuring local artisans and producers.

  • 3

    Noctem

If you like juicy and balanced IPA-style beers, you must visit Noctem which makes them excellently. They also master several other styles of beer. It is a must to taste their authentic and original cuisine, which diffuses the smell of smoked meats throughout the room.

The place is dotted with decorations where cats -the emblem of the microbrewery- are in the spotlight. But, back to basics, you'll taste excellent, rigorously crafted beers.

  • 4

    La Barberie

La Barberie is an institution that is now over 20 years old. They were pioneers in the promotion and production of craft beers and have evolved well over time, offering a variety of beers that are pleasant to drink.

In summer, their terrace is an urban paradise with magnificent trees and plants that make this place a perfect setting to sit back and relax. Interesting fact: the whole family is welcome year round at La Barberie, including dogs!

  • 5

    Griendel

The Griendel is a gathering place in the Montcalm district (with 24 kinds of microbrewery beer on tap, we can easily understand why!). lt will please you with its extensive menu of beers, a few guest lines and a slate overflowing with tasty dishes.
