Compagnie Rassegna
Il sole non si muove
For their very first visit to Québec, the French ensemble Compagnie Rassegna presents a fascinating musical fusion with their program "Il sole non si muove." The ensemble features an array of instruments including kaval flutes, Arabic oud, bass, baroque and electric guitars, and viola da gamba, along with vocalists. This blend creates a sound that bridges the past and the present.
The program offers an eclectic mix of Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese songs, Algerian Hawzi music, as well as Turkish and Armenian tunes. In addition, compositions from Elizabethan England, such as the "Ayres" by Dowland and Hume, and excerpts from the "Cries of London," are also featured. These pieces echo a dynamic era of cultural exchanges and the continuous travels of Renaissance musicians, reflecting a world in perpetual motion.
