Omar Sosa et Seckou Keita
SUBA Trio avec Gustavo Ovalles
Gathered on stage at the Grand Théâtre, virtuoso pianist Omar Sosa, kora maestro Seckou Keita, and the inimitable percussionist Gustavo Ovalles will deliver a concert as spiritual as it is captivating!
The Atlantic Ocean separates Cuba and Senegal, the respective birthplaces of Sosa and Keita, but they are connected by a common ancestral link to Africa and have impressive careers. Sosa has released over 30 albums to date and received nominations for seven GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY awards, while Keita has won numerous accolades, including the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year award in 2019. Since their meeting in 2012, the musicians have been offering a unique fusion of jazz and world music that transports audiences. Following the evocative and sophisticated Transparent Water (2017), their second album, SUBA (2021), is an anthem of hope, a call for real change in a post-pandemic world, and a visceral plea for peace, compassion, and unity. Joining them in both studio and live performances is their close collaborator, Venezuelan percussionist Gustavo Ovalles.
