Québec City has always had a love affair with beer. Not long after the founding of New France, Récollet priests produced the colony’s first casks of amber nectar. Next came the Jesuits, and then the intendant Jean Talon, who established the colony’s first brewery. Today, the talented artisans working Québec City’s microbreweries are breathing new life into the time‑honoured tradition, delving into the local terroir (think blueberries, maple, pumpkin, and Labrador tea) to brew creations inspired by their surroundings. Treat yourself and explore the incredible diversity of craft breweries in and around Québec City.

Craft Breweries

There are more than 30 microbreweries in Québec City and the surrounding area, and the number keeps climbing! Discover classic regional flavours by sampling some of the craft beer and terroir goodies being served up in these fine establishments. Some are notable for their fine pub fare enhanced by tasty beer‑based sauces and judicious beer and food pairings. Map out your own microbrewery tour of Saint‑Roch and the city center or take a little road trip to Portneuf, Côte-de-Beaupré, the Jacques-Cartier Area, or Île d’Orléans!
