Beethoven and Romanticism

This original concert invites the audience to explore two stunning historical spaces at the Morrin Centre while enjoying chamber music masterpieces by Beethoven, Schubert, and Ravel.

A Musical Journey in Three Acts

With 16 musicians from the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the evening will unfold in three captivating parts featuring ensembles of varying sizes:

  • Act 1: A string trio will perform in the library, while a septet plays in the College Hall, with the audience divided between the two venues.
  • Act 2: Everyone will gather in the College Hall for performances by an octet, a quartet, and a septet, complemented by the poignant reading of Beethoven's Letter to the Immortal Beloved (1812) and poems by Canadian and Québécois poets, narrated by actress Maureen Roberge.
  • Act 3: The audience will once again divide to experience the performance they missed earlier: the trio in the library or the septet in the College Hall.

Throughout the evening, musical director Clemens Schuldt will offer insights into Beethoven’s exploration of Romanticism, enriching the audience's experience.

An unforgettable event for lovers of music and history!
