Buena Vista Orchestra
The Buena Vista Orchestra, featuring four original members of the renowned Buena Vista Social Club, including musical director and trombonist Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, stops in Quebec as part of their new world tour. This is a rare chance to celebrate the timeless classics from their album, which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame this year.
This tour highlights a repertoire of major hits, many composed by Ramos, alongside more refined selections, including music from the famous 1997 Grammy-winning self-titled album Buena Vista Social Club.
Ramos is joined by an all-star lineup of original Buena Vista Social Club members: Luis “Betun” Mariano Valiente Marin (congas, bongos), Emilio Senon Morales Ruiz (piano), and Fabían Garcia (bass).
To date, the Buena Vista Social Club and its related projects have sold over 50 million copies, making it the best-selling Cuban music in history. As one critic put it, the Buena Vista Social Club has become the equivalent of The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd in the world music genre.
